City Wins Best Booth Event Award at Seoul International Travel Fair 2024

Jakarta Provincial Government won Best Booth Event Award at Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF) 2024.

The award was handed over by Chairman and CED Korean Travel Fair (KOTFA) to Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Secretary, Helma Dahlia, during closing ceremony at CO Exhibition Center, South Korea, Sunday (5/12).

Helma said Jakarta Provincial Government's participation in the event is aimed to gain foreign tourist visit to the city.

Apart from that, as a form of participation in fulfilling the program targets of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, namely, increasing tourist visits from South Korea, strengthening the revival of the country's economy and creating 4.4 million jobs by 2024.

"Jakarta Provincial Government cooperates with Tourism and Economy Creative Ministry to participate in this event. It is aimed to fulfill foreign tourist visit by 9.5 to 14.3 million visits this year," she said Tuesday (5/14).

Tourism and Creative Economy Agency's Marketing and Attraction Division Head, Sherly Yuliana, admitted the participation was also aimed to market Jakarta's leisure destinations, expanding good relations with the global market between Jakarta tourism businesses and the international world.

"This is also an effort to make Jakarta one of the main tourist destinations in the Republic of South Korea," she admitted.

As for information, Jakarta Statistic Center Agency (BPS) noted the total number of foreign tourist visits to Jakarta during the period January to November 2023 reached 1,784,359 visits or 119.41 percent higher compared to the same period in 2022.

Sherly added this number of visits reflects the recovery of the tourism sector after the pandemic and creates opportunities for the development of leisure as an attraction for international tourists, presenting iconic places and culture that work in harmony with modern life.

The latest data on the number of foreign tourists visiting Jakarta based on visits from 2018 to 2020, South Korea is in fourth place with the number of tourists 24,932 people.

That is why Indonesia through Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry opened direct flight between Hanoi and Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta, and Ho Chi Ming City - Bali.

"It is aimed to attract visitors from Korea to Indonesia via Vietnam," she added.

Meanwhile, Foreign Tourism Marketing Sub-Division Head, Lucky Wulandari, there were five Co-Exhibitor Jakarta tourism actors participating the event.

They have been curated by Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency together with Jakarta Hotel Association and Travel Agent Indonesia.

Those five Co-Exhibitor are PT Savir Mitra Wisata, 3T Tours Indonesia (PT Sinar Fiesta Indonesia), Xpose Leisure Jakarta, The St Regis Hotel and Sido Abadi Travelindo.

"Co-exhibitors offer tour packages that suit the South Korean market, namely, leisure tourism with priority tourist packages for Thousand Islands and new destinations, Pantai Indah Kapuk as well as sports tourism, especially golf," she explained.
